Who We Are

Our Story

The journey began many years ago, with Amar learning the ropes from the very best…his own parents. As the family portfolio of residential apartments and commercial properties grew, Amar took on a much more active role in managing the family’s business, all the while pursuing other entrepreneurial opportunities.

Amar first met Susan in 2005, as a client of the law firm where Susan worked as a corporate lawyer. Fast forward to 2019, Amar and Susan (and Rachel, who was working with Susan at that time) took the leap of faith and agreed to start a whole new adventure at Amdev Property Group.

We were thrilled to further expand our team with the addition of several new members to our finance, property management and planning & development groups.

Despite a global pandemic dominating our first few years as a team, we’ve accomplished great things and look forward to continuing our journey together.

Our Team

Energy, Enthusiasm & Expertise

Amar Bhalla

Amar Bhalla

Founder

As the founder of the Amdev Property Group, Amar has more than 20 years of experience in all aspects of the industry including the acquisition, development and management of a broad GTA-focused portfolio across asset classes. He has served and continues to serve on the boards and audit committees of several TSX and TSX-V listed companies across technology and mineral industries, and is the current Chair of Dream Impact Trust and a Board director of Timbercreek Financial. Amar is a member of the Institute of Corporate Directors and a CFA charter holder.

During his free time, Amar hones his skills as a fine wine connoisseur, doting father, and aspiring professional tennis player. Amar’s spirit animal is the squirrel.
Susan Pak

Susan Pak

Operations

Prior to joining Amdev, Susan was a corporate partner at a large Bay Street law firm (where she first met Amar many years ago) and most recently served as Senior Director at a full-service Canadian business law firm. As Senior Director, Susan was responsible for several areas of talent management, including recruitment, professional development, HR management, education and training, and diversity & inclusion.

Susan enjoys wearing many hats, the most important one being a mother and raising her two young sons to be the next NBA (G League) players. In her previous career, she was a notorious drug dealer - the legal kind, of course. Susan’s spirit animal is the rabbit.
Rachel Maich

Rachel Maich

Operations

Before joining the Amdev team, Rachel spent six years as part of the Talent Management group at a large Canadian business law firm, where she managed all aspects of the firm’s Associates Program, including recruitment, onboarding, professional development, engagement and performance management. She was also actively involved in the firm’s Community Involvement & Pro Bono program, including spearheading the annual United Way fundraising campaign.

Rachel is a real talent who loves a friendly competition, but hates to lose. Most recently, she lost to an 8-year-old boy in a Rubik’s Cube challenge (the same boy who is training to be the next NBA (G League) player). Rachel’s spirit animal is the elephant.
Maytham Naqvi

Maytham Naqvi

Finance

Prior to his role at Amdev, Maytham spent nine years at Oxford Properties with progressive roles in the Corporate Accounting team, followed by the Finance & Capital Markets team. In his roles, Maytham used a bird’s-eye view, combined with his thirst for details, to provide commentary on portfolio performance, create financial plans, and support financing decisions at both a property level and consolidated portfolio level. He enjoys collaborating and had the opportunity to work with other parts of the big engine, including Property Accounting, Tax, Investments, Development and Strategy.

In an alternative dimension, Maytham is a professional soccer player in one of Europe’s top leagues and wears a head band. When real estate came calling, he jumped in whole-heartedly and cut his hair short (much to the appreciation of his lovely wife). Maytham supplements the work day with some sports/exercise when time allows, and by night, he serves as his young son’s sidekick, playing various supportive roles including ninja, pokemon, power ranger and salon customer. Maytham’s spirit animal is the whale.
Keith Ta

Keith Ta

Finance

Keith joined Amdev after progressing from Junior Property Accountant to Senior Property Accountant at Canderel Group in less than four years, where he gained considerable experience reviewing and analyzing financial information, maintaining accounting controls, and recommending financial actions and business operation improvements. Keith applies this knowledge and experience to his current role as Senior Financial Analyst at Amdev, as the go-between for corporate accounting and property management functions. Keith obtained his BComm and MBA degrees and is currently working towards his CPA designation.

Outside of work, Keith is an avid fan of soccer and tennis and enjoys a good outdoor hike. He also admits to routinely watching the popular TV show Friends as part of his nightly schedule. Keith’s spirit animal is the rooster (and his spirit Friends character is Chandler Bing).
Svetlana Voitova

Svetlana Voitova

Finance

Svetlana has experienced many life adventures before landing her current role on our finance team. She earned her degree in Civil Engineering in Russia before eventually moving to Canada, where her life took an unexpected turn when she was offered a bookkeeping position at her first office job. This move proved to be a perfect fit, as Svetlana has always had a passion for math. As her career progressed, Svetlana pursued her CGA studies and became well versed in property accounting.

During her free time, Svetlana enjoys nature hikes, gardening and enjoying desserts with her family (luckily for her, one of her sons loves to cook!). Svetlana’s spirit animal is the frog.
Cameron Reynolds

Cameron Reynolds

Property Management

Cameron has over 15 years of experience in commercial property management at leading organizations including Bentall, Avison Young, Colliers, Dream, and most recently Hullmark, working his way up from an administrative clerk to a Senior Property Manager. He has managed millions of square feet over that time, with a primary focus on AAA commercial, retail and industrial properties. Cameron obtained his RPA designation in 2018.

When he’s not working, Cameron spends most of his time at home with his awesome partner in crime (a.k.a. “wife”), raising three young and energetic boys. In the scant spare time he has left, Cameron spends it learning about weird and wonderful science facts that he doesn’t understand completely or much at all. Cameron’s spirit animal is his arch nemesis, the raccoon.
Saba Haie

Saba Haie

Planning & Development

Saba joined our team after partnering with Amdev through his work at Triage Development Corp., where he was involved in several industrial, residential and mixed-use projects. Saba has over 10 years of experience in acquisition, land use planning and development. Saba’s expertise extends from identifying and evaluating acquisition opportunities to managing developments from inception through the various stages of municipal approvals.

When he’s not busy dreaming of ways to create vibrant cities, Saba spends time trying to come up with fun educational activities for his kids and their friends. Saba grew up in Guimarães, the birthplace of Portugal, and has lived in three different continents. Saba’s spirit animal is the Portuguese chicken (aka frango assado).
Michael Liu

Michael Liu

Planning & Development

Michael is a recent graduate of the University of Toronto’s Master of Science in Planning program. He is interested in many urban planning issues, including land use development and housing, which brought him to Amdev as a member of our planning & development group. Prior to joining Amdev, Michael interned with the City of Toronto, Government of Ontario, and SvN Architects and Planners; each of these roles allowed him to learn more about the urban spaces he lives within.

In his personal time, Michael loves to explore Toronto by foot and take snapshots of the urban environment. He is also a huge GIS fan who enjoys making maps. Michael’s spirit animal is the sparrow, a little group of birds that always shows up on his balcony at springtime to remind him that winter is finally over.
